Wii leads to child abuse
Abby loves to watch me play Wii.  She sits there and cheers for my team (or the other team; it depends on who's winning).  Anyway, we warned her to stay back when I was playing Wii.  There I was, up to bat, and my daughter darts in front of me.  I don't see her.  I swing.

Thwack!

Right in the back of the head.  Actually, I just clipped the top of her head, but it scared the hell out of her.  She howled and yelled, then when she finally calmed down she insisted I put the game away.  I did.

It gets worse.

I have this strange habit of sitting with one foot perched in the chair beside me - I'm weird, okay.  anyway, right after the Wii accident, I go to sit down, she goes to dive into my lap, I raise my knee to put my foot in the chair.

Thwack!

She takes a knee to the jaw.  I really beaned her this time, but, oddly enough, she only looked at me all startled like.  I hugged her and told her I was sorry, that it was an accident.  Poor thing, she's really had a rough afternoon.

And to think, in less than a week I'm going to have another kid!

hahahaha! Don't worry -- kids are indestructible.

My dad dropped, knocked and thwacked me all the time when I was a kid -- and you can't tell a bit.

right?

right?

That reminds me of one of my favorite canned replies. Whenever I'm around someone who starts going on and on about the importance of breast milk, I inevitably make the following comment -

"Well, I was raised on cow milk and there ain't a damn thing MOOOOOOOOO wrong with me."

Don't feel bad, Byron.

When my folks lived in Hemphill, about a block from the square, my 9 year old (1 or so at the time)and I went to visit them. We were walking back from the square, just outside of their fence. I was carrying the baby when a spider dropped down from the tree in front of me. Now, you have to understand that I loath spiders. Well, my arms shot out to push the spider away and the baby flew from my hands. When she was at the tip of my fingers realization stuck me and I took a step forward to catch her, but the momentum of the push couldn't be denied. She had reached the point of no return. She landed face down in the leaves. I could have crawled under the trees in my Dad's yard for shame. Thank God she was okay, just as shocked as I was. I think subconsciously she still holds that against me. ;o)

So, don't feel too bad. Stuff like that happens.

LO(freaking)L!!!

Okay, Bret, you've got me beat. Warding off a spider by throwing a baby at is is certainly way up there.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

You'll know she still holds it against you if she collects spiders and drops them on you... :)

Oh, man. With my kids it always seems that if they get hurt like that, it attracts more hurts. They happen in series.

It does tend to spiral.

Also, Abby tends to scream her lungs out when she's slightly injured, but it seems when she something really should have hurt her she's not as bad. I mean, I really nailed her with my knee, but she basically gave me a three-year-old's version of a 'go to hell' look.

Ooh, two in one day :)

I'm prone to dropping things on their heads ... but I can blame them for being somehow upside down, hanging off the couch or chair or counter, and yet tangled around my feet. Clueless. I think my dog tended to get the worst of the accidentals though. Not too bright about sneaking up quietly behind people.

And LOL [info]bret_jordan's tops all I've heard.

I'm still laughing about Bret's story. In fact, I've printed it off to take it to work with me.

So far the only person I've hurt while playing Wii is myself! Maybe it's time to have some kids...

Oh, yeah, the pain goes without saying. I'm sore 24/7.
